Radon in your drinking water poses an increased risk of cancer, though a smaller
one than is caused by radon in your home's air.
According to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report on radon in drinking
water, "There are drinking-water-related cancer deaths, primarily due to
lung cancer."
That's because the primary risk of cancer from radon in drinking water arises
from the radon transferring from the water into the air, where it can then be
inhaled, although there's also some risk from ingesting radon-contaminated water.
NOTE: Those who have well water are particularly encouraged to test their water
for radon.
Says the NAS, "The primary health risks from radon in drinking water are
lung cancer, from inhaling radon discharged from water used in the home, and
stomach cancer, from ingesting radon in drinking water."
Fortunately, testing your home's drinking water for radon is easy: just use
this top-recommended Radon-in-Water Test Kit. It includes everything you need
